Persistent Child Demands Apology From Mike Pence
by TeachThought Staff
While speaking to adults about kids with his back to the kids and words clearly written for adults, Vice President Mike Pence (lightly and clearly inadvertently) made contact with a young boy’s face.
The boy demanded an apology from Pence and went great lengths to get it–and in doing so, not only has he gone ‘viral,’ but serves as a model for politely insisting on accountability., though we’re not sure he wouldn’t have started moving some furniture up in there had he not been heard when he was.

This boy is every marginalized person in America. https://t.co/aRnbERW1hI

He’s definitely a future diplomat, lawyer, farmer, quarterback, point guard, CEO–whatever positions require persistence, leadership, and unflinching courage in the face of seemingly overwhelming competition.
HuffPost did a great job with the music overlay/soundtrack. Perfect tone.
For the record, Pence’s apology marginalized the event as a ‘bop’ and barely made eye contact during the apology, but what can you do? Still a clear victory for all Americans.
“Vice President Mike Pence was hosting military families in celebration of National Military Spouse Appreciation Day when he accidentally tapped a boy on the nose. The kid decided he wasn’t going anywhere without an apology.”
